  About the Event
Friday, December 9th - Sunday, December 11th, 2005

» Christmas in St. Michaels was founded in 1987 as a non-profit, publicly funded corporation with the principal purpose of fund raising for the benefit of the St. Michaels community.

» Each year, the Board of Directors reviews proposals submitted by St. Michaels-based non-profit organizations seeking funding assistance from the proceeds of Christmas in St. Michaels. The Board selects those it deems most appropriate and often several organizations are beneficiaries in a single year.

» Since 1987, nineteen local organizations have received funding ranging from annual grants of as little as $2000 to as much as $38,000 in a single year. A total of $504,829 has been contributed to community organizations from the proceeds of Christmas in St. Michaels.

» For Christmas in St. Michaels 2004, the Board of Directors has selected the following groups:
  • St. Michaels Elementary School, to fund three specific student support programs
  • St. Michaels Branch of the Talbot County Free Library, to help fund the current expansion
  • St. Michaels Housing Authority TLC/Infant-Toddler Day Care Center, to support ongoing programs for children under 3
  • Christ Church (Episcopal) Parish House Capital Campaign, to assist in the expansion and remodeling of this central community resource, and
  • The Town of St. Michaels, to help defray the costs of new holiday lighting for Talbot Street

» All the activities conducted during Christmas in St. Michaels weekend are planned and executed by a corps of dedicated volunteers. Many businesses and individuals also contribute time, talents and goods to make this festive event a success each year.

» In 2004, Christmas in St. Michaels is planned for the weekend of December 10-12, beginning with the traditional Holiday Benefit Gala dinner dance and including Breakfast with Santa for children 3-8, a holiday parade where Santa and Mrs. Claus make their arrival, a tour of historic homes and buildings, an art show by local artists, a boutique featuring well known antique dealers, a traditional Christmas dinner, several musical events and Santa's Wonderland where local children enjoy food, fun and games. Several new events are being planned for our 2004 celebration - stay tuned for these announcements!
