Our Beneficiaries - supporting community needs

In keeping with the mission of Christmas in St. Michaels, the beneficiaries selected for 2010 include organizations that provide support services for St. Michaels residents of all ages to enhance their quality of life.

Christmas in St. Michaels has continuously supported children's organizations. Once again this year, funds will be provided to the St. Michaels site of Critchlow Adkins Children's Centers for tuition assistance scholarships for families to enable their young children access to quality childcare in a nurturing, diverse, safe, and enriching environment.

Talbot Mentors was selected as a beneficiary to help further the organization’s work in St. Michaels to assist children in the challenges and opportunities of adolescence through friendship, guidance, and education.

St. Michaels Community Center, a 2010 beneficiary, is a service organization promoting community and family oriented projects and activities such as entertainment, recreation, self-help resources, and educational programs.

The grant provided to Habitat for Humanity Choptank will enable the organization to purchase a building lot in St. Michaels. Funding will also be awarded to St. Michaels Museum at St. Mary’s Square for the following purposes: 1. To relocate the main entrance of the museum, which will allow better utilization of the historic buildings on the property, and 2. To add an ADA compliant ramp at this new entrance, which will make the museum accessible to all residents and visitors.

Beneficiaries in past years have included the Chesapeake Bay Maritime Museum, St. Luke’s Preschool, and the Town of St. Michaels in support of the restoration and redevelopment of Muskrat Park.
